I think I agree with what a few others stated before that a large part of people getting annoyed or aggrivated at the sight of using coupons is that they assume you're going to be someone who holds up the line unnecessarily. Now, firstly, I understand people are in a rush and it's a hassle to have that person who argues with the attendant over whether the coupon should be counted etc. However, in some ways it's also rude to be so pushy and in such a hurry that someone can't save money on their spending. It's smart to try and save. Yes I am aware that money is time, but if they are ready to go and the coupons are out just like the shoppers card there is no big deal. Someone mentioned out of respect to others they don't use coupons, what about respecting yourself and your family. Over time $0.75 can go a long way, especially if it is on items and products that you use regularly or would have to buy anyway. You never know, those same people who roll their eyes and get touchy one day come in and do the same scenario with their 10 coupons a different day they feel like they have all the time in the world. Everyone would like to be able to save money on their general purchases I believe, and anyone is entitled to that. Lastly, I don't think coupons necessarily take all that long that someone would need to avoid using them out of worry they would hold the lines up. If you follow the directions, clip them properly so the barcode isn't missing and have them ready with your money you're causing no more trouble than the person paying with check, WIC, or searching around desperately in their purse for their credit card. Sometimes I think we are too rushed and should slow down a little, especially when it gets to the point we lose sight of respect for one another and considering the possible feelings and situations of other people. Is there no more empathy? Couponing isn't for everyone, but I personally admire that person who would take the time and money to save. That takes some discipline and dedication after all.
Nothing is wrong with saving. Some people wish they didn't care so much what others think. I don't use coupons but I would whether people liked it or not, I honesty feel that coupons are lures. The product is usually over priced then brought down to what it should have been in the first place.
