Considering how smiliar the functionality is for the two items which is really more important to you or are they as I would assume interchangable? I know alot of people would say their smartphones because of the apps, but the iTouch also uses apps so what does it matter? As for calling apparently there is an app for the iTouch that allows for free calls.

I would say my smartphone because I can do everything on it. It's like my personal handheld laptop lol. It also have free calling and texting apps. You just need some type of Internet connection and you good to go. Before you know it you want even need a laptop.

I don't have an iTouch, nor would I ever get one, so I'll say: my smartphone.

I prefer my smartphone over a iTouch. My smartphone can basically do everything the iTouch could and then some.

I need my smartphone because the iTouch just doesn't interest me. I've grown accustom to my smartphone, and I will rarely try a new product. If something is working well, then why change it? I understand that Apple is trying to push boundaries with their products, but sometimes it gets to be overkill. Having a device to too many things is just not good in my opinion. It has to have practical uses for me to consider buying it.

I would also have to say that my smartphone is more important to me because I don't have an iTouch. If you have a smartphone, then you can also afford to not buy an mp3 player and a camera too.

I don't have a smartphone, but I do have an iTouch. It's annoying when you have to constantly go back and forth between a phone and an iTouch when you have the possibility of keeping everything in one place. I wish I had a smartphone that had enough room to contain both my music and have calling/texting capabilities without making the phone slower. I know people who have to have both a music device and a smart phone because their smartphone doesn't play their music well.

I don't have a smartphone or an iTouch and I don't think I need one. Does anyone really need a smartphone? We didn't need a smartphone before they were invented. These needs are artificial, no one needs a smartphone.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't have this technology. I have only a basic cellphone and that seems to be enough to get my by. I do have to admit though that I can understand how some may feel about their smart phones and Itouch devices. I got along for years without a cellphone but now that I have one I find that I don't want to be without it. Its funny when you think about it, as you pointed out we got along for years without this type of technology and yet now its like we can't go without it.

LOL I was goi ng to say just that.. I don't need both... I need a phone to be in touch with people and for all others my laptops does exceptionally well.. Personally need is not a word I would use in a choice like this.. I do not even want one.. forget needing one.

I have neither and so I'm hesitant to say either is a necessity. Though it is interesting how people start feeling dependant on things once they have one. I have a very basic cell phone and occasionally it would be nice to have all the bells and whistles of smartphones and such but I'm fine overall.

I would go for a smartphone because it is all in one already. You cant ring people using iTouch but you can send message by using iMessage. there are pros and cons between the two but I suppose smartphone can came handy.

Smartphone. You can do everything with it, emails, text, calls, web browsing, play games, calendar, music, and a lot more.

My iPod Touch has become completely obsolete after the purchase of my smartphone. After all, an iPod Touch is pretty much useless if you own an iPhone, considering they're almost the same thing.

I have neither at the moment. My old phone was like a house brick. I've been looking at a few smartphones lately, but I'm undecided on what to get. I'll give it a few more weeks before I make a proper decision. Need to look about more first for good offers, or a good contract offer.

A smartphone is more important to me.

You're right that there are apps for each that can do what the other does, so I don't think it's necessary to have both. I think people should go with the one that is built for what their main needs are and then they can supplement the rest with apps.
