Yes, this exactly!! I understand that companies need to profit and their are lots of people who need to be paid who work for the company but still. Some of the prices just seem way too much!
In my area fresh produce is ridiculously overpriced. And the organic section is so astronomical that I had to take a photo once and send it to a friend in Europe to make him believe me. It was a bunch of celery that they tried to sell for $9.50 AUD. Next to it were a few leaves of Kale held together by a string for $6 AUD a bunch. Figs are currently $2.50 AUD each, and lemons a staggering $8.90 AUD a kilo. Every vegetable that I have to buy at the grocery store is enormously precious and get's inspected by me for mould, brown spots, softness and stage of ripeness. It exhausts me.
