I don't worry about pasta. it's to be enjoyed and I don't find whole grain enjoyable. I don't eat too much pasta so there's no point in worrying about which is healthier.. it won't kill you to choose the one you like best if it's not your main kitchen staple. I make mine from scratch. regular.
It is cheap enough for you, but considering my location and all... that really isn't true for me. Added on is the issue of sales and getting the most bang for your buck nevermind the issue of taste.
I prefer whole grain pasta too,the benefit of whole grain comes from bran and germ, which contains most of vitamin, minerals, protein, and natural oil. Bran and germ are removed from refining process, leaving mostly carbohydrate.
I like whole grain pasta, but I don't eat it exclusively. Given the choice, I will always go with the healthiest option, but I don't go out of my way to avoid "regular" pasta. It's also not something I eat on a daily basis, because I don't consume a lot of flour products (including bread). I prefer brown rice or bean thread noodles, though these days you have to wonder at the arsenic level in the rice.
Generally I don't care for whole grain pasta - but I will say, there are some that I have tried that I had no idea were whole grain. I believe the Whole Foods brand looks and tastes just like regular pasta. I was skeptical however if these were providing the real benefit of whole grains, or if it was just some misleading ingredients and labeling.
I try to eat whole grain pasta because I know it is suppose to be better for you. However; whole grain pasta does not taste as good as regular pasta to me. I really prefer eating regular pasta over whole grain. I wish I could find a brand of whole grain pasta that I don't mind eating.
I would have to say regular pasta, I tried whole grain pasta and didn't enjoy it. I know its much better for you but pasta on its own isn't that unhealthy anyway. It's much better for you than chips or fried food. I love having plenty of pasta in my diet because of all the meals you can make with it. Pasta goes with so many sauces. I'm a big fan of pasta. I might try whole grain pasta again sometime soon
Maybe it's because i spent my whole life eating regular pasta, but i can't go change to whole grain pasta, the taste is too different and i feel strange eating it, so i generally just stick with regular pasta.
I preferred whole grain pasta because it is much better than regular pasta for the health. The benefits of whole grains pasta include: 1) stroke risk reduced 30-36% 2) type 2 diabetes risk reduced 21-30% 3) heart disease risk reduced 25-28% 4) better weight maintenance
I doubt that's for whole grain pasta versus whole grain in general. Also that doesn't say much without looking at diet and lifestyle overall. Besides which the Mediterranean diet doesn't focus on whole grain pasta, but it is one of the healthiest diets you can have.
When I'm on a health kick I'll buy the whole grain, or if I'm making a pasta dish that is just pasta and roasted veggies I buy it. But if it's just a general Italian dish, like pasta with marinara or an alfredo, I find the grain flavor to be a bit distracting for my taste. I know it's better for you, but generally regular pasta does it for me!
