I've had several free anti-virus for testing before but I settled on AVG. I don't remember the exact reason why I chose AVG over the others but maybe the virus list of AVG is more comprehensive. However, after some years of having AVG, a computer vendor gifted me with a licensed Symantec anti-virus. And since anti-virus programs cannot co-exist with another, I had taken off AVG in favor of the licensed Symantec. However, my Symantec is not updating its virus list this year, giving me the impression that the license may have expired. If that's the case then probably I would be going back to AVG.
